Backdoor Gun Control!
Our President said he would not push for new laws on gun control.
Apparently he can keep his word, and still strip us of our 2nd Amendment right.
The following is a summary of a document from MAIG ( Mayors Against Illegal Guns). This is the thinly veiled anti-gun group headed by Mayor Bloomberg of New York.
The document was submitted to President Obama in a discreet meeting, for his support on the Fed level.
What is scary about this? All the points in the document can be instituted by an Executive Order by the Prez! No debate or vote required.
Here is the summary as stated on Michael Banes Blog by Michael Himself:
• Require REAL ID compliant identification for all gun purchasers. Those in non-complying states, which are many, will no longer be permitted to buy firearms.
• Recommends a ban on the importation of all “non-sporting” firearms and ammunition, and specifically calls for banning the FN Five-Seven. Kiss cheap imported rounds of military caliber goodbye. Maybe kiss Glock’s goodbye too. MAIG isn’t all that specific on what would be sporting or non sporting. Also note that MAIG can no longer claim they do not advocate banning guns. They do.
• Calls for keeping records for people who get a NICS default proceed, which means your background check has not “cleared” but you went through the required three day waiting period. These records can be kept for up to 20 years, in the case of someone who’s name matches someone on the “terror watch” list and six months ordinarily. Default proceeds can happen if NICS has incomplete records, or the system is down for a protracted period of time.
• Calls for more enforcement of gun shows using the Richmond model. The techniques used at the Richmond gun shows were bad enough that Congress held hearings about the methods, and demanding ATF put a stop to them. They actually recommend rescinding a number of the changes made to prevent these abuses.
• Recommends ways for the administration to exploit loopholes in Tiahrt to publish information on “problematic” gun dealers (so they can be sued by New York City, no doubt). As we’ve pointed out on this blog before, having a lot of traces doesn’t necessarily mean a dealer is breaking the law.
• Lots of recommendations for new record keeping requirements on the part of FFLs• Requiring placement of alternate serial numbers of every newly manufactured gun, and requiring serial numbers to be deeper and larger. Also require that a consistent serial numbering scheme be adopted across all manufacturers and importers.
• Asks ATF to promote MAIG’s Responsible Dealer Partnership Program that they foisted on Wal-Mart, much like they do with NSSF’s “Don’t Lie for the Other Guy.” They imply NSSF’s program does not go far enough.
• Asks the CPSC to mandate gun safety lock standards. Gun dealers are required to provide these, but many gun owners are older, or younger, and do not have children. This would be a way to add substantially to the cost of a firearm, if a 30 dollar lock needed to be included with each sale.
• Extend the multiple purchase reporting requirement to long guns, especially ARs, 50 caliber firearms, and Kalashnikov variants. MAIG is not very clear on this, and I think it would be difficult for dealers to keep track of the current state of regulation.
The entire document was obtained by a legal firm through the Freedom of Information Act. MAIG was not happy that it became public!

Only The Rich Eat???!!!
Well, our State is in a major budget deficit, as most States are......
So our "wise" Governor stated that he would only support new taxes or tax increases for the wealthy.
So......he then promptly suggested that the legislators re-implement the tax on groceries! This tax was taken off of all grocery items a couple of years back.
Thus, the only conclusion I can come to is..... that he feels only rich people eat!!!
Politician = Idiot

The Day After.....
And only 364 days until Christmas comes again!!
It seemed as if many had trouble feeling the joy this year. Don't know for sure what the cause was, but a lot of my friends felt that way.

Come On August!
July has been a pretty trying month around here.
Since the 1st...
Had to buy a new radiator for my wife's jeep.
Tension spring on garage door broke sending garage door crashing down.
Lightning strike took out our chest freezer and the pressure switch on our well.
Found out that my constant headaches are the result of a cracked vertabrae in my neck.
Just seem to be in that cycle that hits once in a while where lots seems to go wrong.
However, am still blessed with a wonderful family and good friends. So things are not all bad!

The Colony..My First Impressions...
The new show on one of The Discovery Channel networks debuted this past week. It is called The Colony.
The basic premise appears to be whether a "diverse" group of survivors after some sort of apocolyptic collapse can band together and survive for a 10 week period.
As expected, it appears to be more of a loosely based "Survivor" type reality show, rather than a true expirement in preparedness or survival. Essentially the group of people are made up of scholars,engineers, and actual medical personnel, rather than a diverse group of the type that might actually band together after a world altering event.
I will watch again, just to see if my initial perceptions actually change....but I suspect they will not. I am quite sure that there were many glaring mistakes made by this group on the outset, which will be very obvious to anyone with even a loose grasp on survival.
The greatest of which for me, was the utter lack of awareness about securing the safety of the group from outside forces. Yes...shelter and water are two immediate needs, but this is also true for all the other dregs of society out there as well.
I did not expect the producers of the show to in any form, include any actual means of self defense such as firearms or tactical training, but they really lowered the bar on the protection issue. Only one of the group members has any type of self defense training. She is supposedly a martial arts instructor, but seems much more likely to be a fitness trainer who uses some self defense moves as exercise.
The group resembles much more the typical herd found after a catastrophic event, who figure if they can try to be comfortable for a few days, the Gov will show up and slap the big band-aid on it.
In reality, if things had gone bad, these people would not make it through the first week. Let alone a full ten weeks. In the real non-television world, "marauders" do not come beat on your unsecured compound, and run away if you yell at them.
Remember, in our current state of civilization, their are predators out there who will take what they want and gladly kill you in the process. So, in this scenario, where there is little to none of police protection, you can imagine what these predators would be like!
So, The Colony might be neato entertainment for the uninformed. Yet it is in no way a realistic experiment as it has been portrayed by the promoters.
I will give it a bit more time to develop. But I am not to confident it will improve.

I Am A Bigot!!!
At least that is what I was informed today!
Here is the context of this revelation....
I was at a gas station filling up my truck's tank. I happened to be wearing a black t-shirt, which in white letters, says "got Jesus?". A take on the Got Milk? commercials.
As I stood their, a young fellow approached me and said...."So you are proud to be a bigot?"
Huh? Which was exactly what I said!
He then informed me that I was a bigot who spent my life forcing my views and morals on others. I asked if we had met before, and he informed me that we had not. He then went on to tell me that he had met many like me, and knew just how I "was".
Ok. So being a helpful and enjoying learning type fellow.... I asked him to explain to me how I "was".
He proceeded to tell me that I was full of bitterness and used religion to hide my homophobia and hate towards people who were different than I was.
Hmmm... he did not look like Obama, but sure did sound like him! And man... he sure did know a lot about me just from reading two words on my shirt.
He then went on to tell me how he led an alternative lifestyle and was tired of people like me getting in his face about it. At this point, I just fell apart with laughter! Serious tear inducing, breath robbing laughter.
This met with much disdain from my accuser. He demanded to know what I felt was funny about his comments. So... again wanting to be helpful, I pointed out that I had been the one standing here minding my business when he launched his attack. In other words, doing exactly what he had just accused people of doing to him.
This little bit of info only served to aggravate him. He then began ranting about me twisting his words to fit my agenda.
I then pointed out that my agenda had only been the fueling of my vehicle until he presented himself into my life!
At this point he stomped off to his Rav4 and left the scene of my bigotry!
So, I learned that..... the fact I am a Christian. And believe that my Saviour loves all people, no matter what their agenda is... makes me a bigot. And this young man, who I suspect is very unhappy in his alternative lifestyle judging by his attitude and actions, is a fine example of compassion and tolerance.
Oh well! Live and learn!
Gonna wear that Jesus T-shirt more often. No telling what else I might learn from it.
I definitely learned that there are some odd people out there just trying to hold up that huge chip on their shoulder.
This bigot will pray for that young man tonight.

Confirmation Hearings?
I sit and marvel about why they are calling this Liberal lovefest, a hearing to confirm Ms. Sotomayor for the Supreme Court.
Any type of question that could actually be considered as mildly fact finding oriented, is immediately headed of by the Judicial Committee members of the Obama fanclub.
I wish I could laugh at her response when asked about views on gun control. It was just not funny!
Ms. Sotomayor has a godchild who is an NRA member! Ok, nice I guess. But she delivered this fact as if she was talking about the beloved family member who eats dirt, and who we all know should not be left alone, lest they harm themselves.
She then let loose the bombshell that she has a friend who hunts! Holy Cow! Seriously Sonia?!
That is awsome!
Same old answers used since The Clinton Gang days. It sets the stage to draw the distinction between firearms used for hunting, and other uses. And it is NOT comforting my fears about her as one of our Supreme Court Justices.
She has already made it clear, as has our President, that her views and feelings, read "empathy"
by Obama, will color her rulings.!

Crimson Trace!
Recently obtained a set of Crimson Trace lasergrips for my Smith & Wesson J frame.
I firmly believe in using a traditional sight picture when shooting...however I spend a great deal of time working in dark areas. The sights on the J frame are rudimentary at best in good light.
So in low light situations... not so much!
Gave the lasergrips a good workout tonight. Shot some steel at distances from 5 yards out to 25 yards. Shot from a standard two hand standing position, and from some odd and uncomfortable positions.
I am quite pleased with the grips. Was able to put solid hits on steel without using the sights. I will still use the sights as first choice, but feel comfortable relying on the lasergrips for low light situations.

So...So....So...Hot!
Thank The Lord for air conditioning!
There are times I long for a simpler life. If I got my wish, I would have to live in a cooler climate.
High 90's today. Well 99 to be exact! Can't get much higher 90's than that.
It does make the evenings when it drops to the 80's quite enjoyable. Went for a walk with my wife and daughter. My son opted to watch the Dodgers game. Can't fault him for that.
Nice walk though. Had a fine Drew Estate cigar, and fine company.
Am really trying to slow down and enjoy the simpler things in life. The way the world is going, the simple things may be all we have left!

Cause of Death: Aircraft accident
Date of Incident: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Sergeant Andy Tingwall died following a police helicopter crash on a mountainside near Santa Fe, New Mexico. He and a police observer had just taken off after rescuing a stranded hiker when the helicopter struck the mountainside and crashed. Despite being severely injured, the observer was able to hike from the area the following the morning and was located by a rescue party. An intense search was initiated but rescuers had difficulty reaching the crash site due to weather and terrain. The bodies of Sergeant Tingwall and the hiker were located two days later when rescuers were able to reach the site. It was determined that Sergeant Tingwall survived the initial crash and had removed the injured hiker from the wreckage before passing away.
Andy was the best of the best, and my friend.

9 days of school left.........kids teams are doing great......my Princess is having a birthday next week, so getting ready.... took Mom out for an awsome Mother's Day lunch after Sunday School......much shooting of firearms has been happening!

What A Schedule!
We have baseball/softball practice or games five days a week at two seperate locations. Plus gymnastics one night a week.
Church events another four days/nights a week. Had firearms qualifications already, and my bi-annual PT test coming up tomorrow. A request from the Eastern part of the State will have me driving four hours each way for a day, to assist on some super secret work issues.
I am loving all the events involving family, the work stuff not so much! Well, firearms was pretty cool!
God must be helping accomplish all this....'cause I 'aint man enough to do it all on my own!

Water, water, everywhere water. Know it, embrace it, manage it, or drown. Same goes for cars, trucks, chainsaws, knives, crowbars, blowtorches, and guns. Based on the inept, clumsy, irresponsible failure of brain-dead, uncoordinated numbnuts, I will not be denied the pragmatic, functional utility of anything.
I will not drown, nor will I drink and drive, chainsaw-massacre anyone, stumble, slice, burn, or shoot myself, nor will I ever hold up a bank. So the best advice would be to think, improvise, adapt, and overcome, man up, but by all means, leave me the hell alone. You don't ban electric guitars just because someone may have a lapse in logic, goodwill, and decency and spontaneously break out into country and western music. The vast majority of sensible people will use electric guitars as God intended and whip out good, sexy rock-n-roll licks.
I need my water, cars, trucks, chainsaws, knives, crowbars, blowtorches, and guns. I have mastered them all; they are all wonderful ingredients for my American Dream of rugged individualism, declared independence, and self-sufficiency. They all serve me well, and I am not giving any of them up. Ever.
The masses must never be controlled for the sake of the lunatic fringe. Remember "Don't Tread on Me"? Don't.
America has spoken. With guns and ammo sales and concealed weapons permits surging at unprecedented rates, never in the history of mankind have more people possessed more firepower and most significantly, carried more concealed weapons on their persons than today across America. And as FBI crime reports and law enforcement and academic studies conclude, the self-evident truth is that more guns clearly equals less crime. Where there are more guns per capita, violent crime goes down, particularly crimes of assault, like rape, burglary, and robbery. This is good.
It is indeed Ted Kennedy's gun ban dream of GunFreeZones that have proven to be the guaranteed slaughter zones where the most innocent lives are lost. Think Columbine, VA Tech, Lane Bryant, NW IL University, Luby's Cafeteria, NJ, Salt Lake City, and Omaha malls, Calgary University, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Flight 93, the mayor's office in San Francisco, ad nauseam. Peace and love will get you killed, and unarmed helplessness is bad. Unless of course your anthem goes baaa..... baaa...... baaa.
So why in God's good name would any human being wish to force unarmed helplessness on another? That level of cruel indecency and forced victimization is incomprehensible to me and about 100,000,000 Americans who own guns. It is reassuring, and ultimately convenient, that fresh from escaping the scourges of tyranny, slavery, kings, and emperors, our brilliant, sensible Founding Fathers knew it was important to write down the self-evident truth that the right to self-defense is surely a God-given individual right to keep and bear arms. Write this down, too—"keep" means it is mine, you can't have it. "Bear" means I've got them right here on me. "Shall not be infringed" echoes that beautiful "Don't Tread On Me" chorus.
I like the U.S. Constitution and our sacred Bill of Rights but, quite frankly, I don't really need them in order to know in my heart and soul the list of self-evident truths therein. Those came from thinking, common-sense men who refused to be helpless, dependent slaves to anyone or anything. These truths are all burned forever on my soul. I live them, no matter what.
Meanwhile, in order to stop the drowning and murders, I will work on banning water; Obama can try to ban guns. Good luck.

Water, water, everywhere water. Know it, embrace it, manage it, or drown. Same goes for cars, trucks, chainsaws, knives, crowbars, blowtorches, and guns. Based on the inept, clumsy, irresponsible failure of brain-dead, uncoordinated numbnuts, I will not be denied the pragmatic, functional utility of anything.
I will not drown, nor will I drink and drive, chainsaw-massacre anyone, stumble, slice, burn, or shoot myself, nor will I ever hold up a bank. So the best advice would be to think, improvise, adapt, and overcome, man up, but by all means, leave me the hell alone. You don't ban electric guitars just because someone may have a lapse in logic, goodwill, and decency and spontaneously break out into country and western music. The vast majority of sensible people will use electric guitars as God intended and whip out good, sexy rock-n-roll licks.
I need my water, cars, trucks, chainsaws, knives, crowbars, blowtorches, and guns. I have mastered them all; they are all wonderful ingredients for my American Dream of rugged individualism, declared independence, and self-sufficiency. They all serve me well, and I am not giving any of them up. Ever.

Pirates of the Somalian!?
As I watched the news this morning, one of the top stories was of a U.S. registered ship being attacked by pirates. This has been occurring more and more frequently as of late.
The attacks are taking place off the coast of Somalia. These pirates operate in speedboats launched from larger "motherships". The pirates tend to be able to attack and overrun even huge supertankers and freighters. They then take cargo, and often hold hostages for ransom.
As most well know, Somalia is a country in almost complete anarchy. The poorest of poor are starved and for all purposes slaves to the select few who run certain clans. These clans run roughshod over whomever they choose because they are well armed and have no opposition.
As time has passed, these groups have essentially run out of resources to steal within their own country. They have now begun these piracy attacks on the shipping off their coast. Though it would seem odd that a speedboat full of pirates can take control of such large freighters and their crews, what must be realized is just how well armed these pirates are. We are talking, true full auto AK-47 assault rifles, RPG's and launchers, and by reports, even some anti-tank weapons of fairly advanced technology.
So, why should we care about this??
Well, I find a quite ironic twist to these attacks.
The ships and their crews are forbidden to arm themselves by law! As are the inhabitants of Somalia. Not so much by law, but by the mere fact that those in power keep them from arming themselves. A fine example of how well a gun control plan works in my view! The pirates and warlord run clans, are well aware of who is armed and who is not!
So, for those of you that think we would be safer without our right to bear arms, and to self protect ourselves and families, then please consider this piracy tale. It appears calling 911 is not the answer to all bad events in Somalia either!
And further, though our new U.S. Attorney General would likely try to convince you differently, I doubt much that these pirates are garnering their arms from the U.S.! Much as I have spoken about the Mexican drug cartels receiving their grenades and guns from our country! In fact, I would suspect many of the arms sellers could be personal friends of cartel and pirate alike!
So, cliche or not, if the honest citizen is denied the right to self protection, the dishonest man will arm himself and take advantage of the situation. Ask the enslaved inhabitants of Somalia, and the shipping interests off the Somalian coast how safe their lives are!

Today is "book bomb" Day for James Wesley Rawles book, Patriots!
The intent is to make a statement and move this outstanding novel into the Top 10 of Amazon book sales. It makes a strong statement about we as gun owners, patriots, preppers, and Christians!
Whatever your views, I strongly recommend this book to all. It is a great read, but is packed with tons of true preparedness information. I have read my copy numerous times, but will be buying additional copies to give to friends and family!

One of the Best Purchases I Ever Made!
Due to the much talked of ammunition shortages, as well as the increase in price, I am looking at different practice options!
I recently purchased a CMMG 22lr conversion for the AR-15 rifle from Brownell's. This kit comes with the 22lr bolt assembly and a Black Dog Machine 22lr magazine.
All that is needed is to push out the rear detent pin of the AR-15, slide out the 5.56 bolt, and replace it with the CMMG bolt assembly. You then replace the rear pin and the conversion is complete.
The BDM magazine is stated to hold 26 rounds, though I generally load around 20 just because of my impatience! Insert the magazine and pull the standard charging handle back and release, and you are locked and loaded
I have now run around 500 to 600 rounds through the conversion. It has functioned flawlessly with both Federal copper plated and Winchester copper plated ammo. It is also a tremendous amount of fun!
There is something very liberating about firing rounds that cost 5 cents rather than 50 cents out of my AR. It is just plain intoxicating! I have done a large amount of plinking in the front yard, but have also used the conversion to weed out some over-abundant rabbit population. The conversion works great for both.
As either pure luck or by plan, I don't know which, the scope on my Varmint AR, hits to point of aim at 50 yards with the conversion. I have it sighted in at 200 yards for the 5.56 caliber.
If you have a desire to get some cheap trigger time with your black rifle, or just want to increase the fun factor, I highly suggest you check out the CMMG 22lr conversion.

Mexican Drug Cartels Are Getting Their Guns From U.S.!
I can not remember the last time my intelligence was quite as insulted. The Obummer crowd is recycling this over and over in the media.
They have even paraded the statement that 90% of all seized weapons in Mexico are being traced to the United States. This is complete and utter nonsense!
They expect us to believe that billion dollar drug cartels are sending straw purchasers to the U.S. to buy weapons one at a time and then smuggle them back to Mexico! Sure!
The cartels have the funds and the contacts to buy full auto weapons, grenades, and RPG's by the boatload. And I am supposed to believe they are stopping at Wal-Mart to get weapons!
How stupid do they think we are?!
Take it from one who lives and works on the Mexican border....
I have some weapons in my truck that you can't purchase at any gun store in the U.S...... and I am seriously outgunned by even the smallest cartel!!!

No Surprise! Obama Will Ban Guns!
His Attorney General, who by the way was a Janet Reno toadie, announced that the Obamanator will be trying to get a permanent "assault weapon" ban in place.
It will be an expanded version of the 94 ban. This one will also include any semi auto rifle or pistol that will or can be modified to hold a magazine containing more than 10 rounds. Yes Virginia, this would include your Ruger 10/22, your semi shotgun with the extended mag, and your STI 2011 competition pistol. And something else to think about....your standard 1911 pistol can take a greater than 10 round magazine!
This news is no surprise to any of us with half a brain cell left, but now we will see if gunowners in general will actually lift a finger to contact our reps to protest it.
The ironic part of this all.......??? The official reason for this is not to make our chillen safer..... it is to decrease the violence on the Mexican border!! Apparently the Obummer administration has information that all those full auto AK-47's the cartels are using were purchased here in the US and smuggled into Mexico! Where they already have an almost complete ban on citizen firearms ownership now by the way!
So, I for one have already lit up my reps telephone and email lines with my displeasure, and will continue to do so. Do what you feel is pertinent.

My Back Hates Me!
Or... God is sending me hints that I am too fat!
Threw my back out last week. I have occasionally strained or tweaked my back in the past.
This time, I have learned a whole new definition of pain.
I have to roll off the bed onto my knees, and then slowly fight my way to my feet. I suspect it has much to do with the extra weight I have put on over the past few months.
For those who suffer with chronic back pain... I feel for you! This stinks!
Had to forego church this morning, and tonight, as I can not even climb into the car at this point.
Catching up on reading and watching some dvd's.
Bored already!

SHHHH...Be Vewy Qwiet!
I'm shooting suppressors!
Well, I was earlier. Spent a fun filled afternoon at the range again. This time, a friend brought out his 22lr suppressor. Man, that is a fun little toy!
No need for hearing protection, no disturbing the neighbors.
We fired it on an AR with a 22lr dedicated upper, a Ruger bolt rifle, and a Ruger Mark 3 Pistol.
Very impressive!
If it was not so much hassle to own one of these, many spot shooters would have much less hearing loss. When I win the lottery, I will invest in some myself!

What A Week!
This has been a week of extreme highs and very deep lows.
I started the week by having to put down one of my dogs. She was over 14 years old, and had been a faithful and delightful companion. It was time though. Her quality of life was dropping rapidly and she was in pain. I miss her much, and my son is taking the loss very hard.
That same day, I received a call from a dear friend. He had undergone surgery recently for removal of a cancerous kidney. He called to tell me that his visit with the oncologist had resulted in a cancer free report! Praise the Lord!
Also this week, the washing machine went dead. Now, some things around here we can do without. Since I very much want to live with a happy wife, the washer is not one of those things!
A number of other small crisis resulted this week as well. It was to the point where the lows were winning out. I have been grumpy and moody.
Then my daughter hugs me and tells me, " I love you Daddy"!
All is better now!

My Guns Are Hungry!
Guns everywhere and no ammo to feed them!
Well, that is an exaggeration! I have enough ammo stored to last quite some time. It has been hard to obtain any new stock though. Most of the ammo retailers in my area have chronicly empty shelves
I am not quite sure what is causing the shortage. Super high demand since the election......shortages caused by lack of component materials.......a vast left wing conspiracy!
I ventured into the local Evil Empire store yesterday. Their shelves were uniformly empty of most ammo. The clerk was just putting up a single case of 22lr bulk packs. I was the second person standing and watching him. The first gentleman bought 4 of the 10 packs. I told the clerk I would take the rest.
After completing my sale, he remarked that he guessed he would be out of 22lr for another 2 weeks!
I guess my timing was good. Sorry to the rest of my plinking friends!

Have been lax in blogging due to an internet outage!
As we live in a rural area, our only option for high speed internet has been via satellite. We have had Hughesnet for a couple of years now.
Quite often, we lose our service. It is very frustrating!
When you call Hughesnet's customer service, it is actually answered by an operator in India. I spend a good hour usually, speaking with a person who I can barely understand, and generally the end result is I am told that their tests show no problems with my service! Then in a few days the service will generally return.
This time, after 3 days of no service, I got irritated enough to call. I was pleasantly surprised!
This go round, the operator was actually understandable, she ran some tests and actually admitted something was wrong. She then sent some communication to my modem, and the problem was actually solved! In less than 15 minutes!
While I still feel that for what I pay for service, it should not go out every month or so. At least this time I was able to resolve it fairly easily.
I still may look into getting a wireless modem through my cell phone carrier, but for now things are good!

A Very Good Day!
This afternoon, I went to the shooting range with a high school friend.
We have known each other for many years, but I think this is the first time we have done something social together.
He initiated me in IPSC shooting. Very informal, and he made me look quite slow and lacking.
I had a great time! I can see how this form of competition could be addicting. It really gets the adrenalin flowing. No plans to run out and buy a race gun, but if I won the lottery....who knows!
Most of all, it was a stress relief,as well as a chance for old friends to talk and jab at each other.

If Only More People Understood As Well As This Judge!
As we enter a new highly anticipated political era, there is again much talk about our Second Amendment rights. Despite the recent Heller decision, there is still much to be hashed out on exactly what our founding fathers were thinking when they added this Amendment to our Constitution.
Here is one judge who gets exactly what in my opinion, they meant for the Second Amendment to be!
"The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for re-election and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once." - Alex Kosinski, US Federal Appeals Court Judge

Much Wringing of Hands By Hunting Firearms Sellers!
As firearms sellers and manufacturers tally up the last quarters sales, a definite trend has become evident.
While the sales of "black rifles" and "full capacity" handguns has gone through the roof, the sale of traditional hunting rifles and handguns has taken a serious nosedive.
Smith and Wesson, is a fine example of the trend in itself. Having fairly recently acquired Thompson Center,whichis an almost exclusively hunting based firearms manufacturer, S&W has seen that divisions sales plummet. At the same time, their firearms division which makes the M&P line of pistols and rifles is on fire.
So, there is currently much talk of what must be done to save our hunting heritage! We must determine why our youth have abandoned hunting!
Ok guys! I 'aint the sharpest tool in any shed, but I think you can't see the forest for the trees here!
Lets consider that we recently elected the most anti-gun, and anti-Second Amendment group of folks in history. The fear of what may occur in the near future concerning guns being banned is running rampant. The manufacturers seem to see this as the reason the firearms which may be banned are seeing unbelieveable sales, and I agree this is the case.
However, those same people seem baffled by the decline in hunting firearms sales! Ok, here is a possibility to consider...... If you have a limited amount of dollars to spend on firearms, what would you be buying right now? A new hunting rifle, or a possibly soon extinct AR-15?
I know from personal decisions, I have put off the purchase of a new .223 Varmint rifle, until I round out my evil gun collection and have enough magazines to last the rest of my lifetime.
It does not mean I am done as a hunter, nor is my son. It simply means we buy now what we may not be able to buy later! It is not the end of our hunting heritage, rather it is simple economics and preparedness!
So do not fear hunting retailers! We will be back! We are just currently dating the foreign exchange student, before she leaves forever!

Really Bad Lately!
I started this new blog with the intent to post some sort of comment quite regularly.
It has been harder than I thought to do so!
It seems that as the kids get older, we get busier. Plus, a lot of projects are getting done around the house. We put in a couple of new doors today. One was a new install. It has converted an unused closet into a quite nice gun locker. Much cheaper than another safe, but quite secure as well.
The other was a replacement exterior door. A lot of work, but such a pleasing result.
Next week.... a bathroom remodel. My wife seems most excited by that project. At least by its completion!
